4 Ways to Get Organized Before a Home Remodel

With blockaded areas and parades of construction workers, remodeling your home can sometimes feel a bit chaotic. That’s why it’s a good idea to declutter your space and keep things organized before the renovation starts. Eliminate some of that commotion with these pre-construction organizational tips.

  1. Keep items packed away.
Now is a great time to look over which items you use often and which pieces you can toss out. If you’re renovating an entire room, pack away frequently used items in transparent storage boxes. Label each box with the general contents or take a picture for you reference. This will make it easy to find what you need during the renovation.
  2. Think ahead about daily activities.
Oftentimes, home remodeling projects involve some degree of disruption in your daily routine, so make sure you plan ahead. If you’re renovating your kitchen, consider having a separate work station – such as a table and mini fridge – somewhere else in the house. Also, gather your everyday essentials, such as your keys, chargers and phone, and place them in an accessible area away from the construction.
  3. Use moveable storage.
You may be asked to move some items around to give construction workers access to things they need throughout the house. In this case, it will be handy to have plastic storage boxes that have wheels. This not only makes your items easy to move, but it also keeps the dust off.
  4. Be mindful of the outside of your home.
If your renovation project is external, make sure everything is tidy and ready for when your builders arrive. Clear away gardening equipment, empty pots and any junk that you have been meaning to toss out. This is also a good time to sell items that may not be needed for when your renovation is complete.

When your home feels organized, it makes the construction process much smoother. If you are thinking of venturing into a renovation project this summer, there’s no need to go through the process alone – Progressive Builders is here to help! Contact us today for a free consultation.
