How to get Backyard-Ready for the 4th of July

The 4th of July is a time to celebrate our independence, of course, but it’s also one of the best parts of summer! It’s a time to be outside with family and friends, barbequing and enjoying a cold drink or two. With some work, your backyard can be a crowd pleaser. Here are some tips to help you get your backyard ready for the upcoming festivities.

1. Create a shady area.
Sitting outdoors in the blazing heat is not a comfortable experience for anyone. Add some shade to your yard using freestanding umbrellas or a cloth overhang. Want a more permanent fix? Progressive Builders can help you install a covered patio for your warm, summer days.

2. Have a playlist ready.
Background music can set the mood at any party, so have a playlist ready. If you don’t have outdoor outlets, consider using wireless speakers that connect to your phone or in-home sound system.

3. Use fun lighting.
It’s most likely that the party will continue through the night, so get creative with the lighting! Add some tiki torches throughout your yard, or if you want to go green, hang up solar string lights. Mason jars are also great candle holders and can add a whimsical touch to each table.

4. Offer blankets.
Even though the summer days are warm, nights can get pretty chilly. Keep a pile of blankets handy – fringed throws and camp-style blankets work well. Plus, they’re great for when your guests want to stay outside.

Make the most out of the 4th of July weekend by organizing your backyard. Set up a dining spot with refreshments, hors-d’oeuvres and festive décor and you’re all set to host!
